ABSTRACT
The research of
toxisity and antifeedant of paitan plant extract to red onion pest (S. exigua) was conducted in Laboratory
of Pest and Diseases Devision, Agricultural Faculty, Andalas University during
June until October 2009. The aim of this research is to know about effect of
leaf and flower paitan plant extract to mortality and antifeedant of S. exigua larvae. There are three kind
of simple (water) and etanol extract dosage to mortality grade of larvae S. exigua. Simple and etanol extract of
plant paitan effectively to control of instar II and III larvae. Consentration
0,5% of leaf and flower extract of plant paitan more effective compare to 0,3%
and 0,1%. Extract of paitan flower more toxic
than its leaf. The effect of leaf
and flower extract to antifeedant of S.
exigua larvae was low, it is mean the role of paitan plant extract could be
used as a botanical insecticide to control of S. exigua pest.
